Willaston Scouts’ dementia-friendly sensory garden was formally opened this afternoon.
At the start of 2016, as part of A Million Hands, our beavers, cubs and scouts chose to support Alzheimer’s Society by creating a sensory garden in the grounds of our scout HQ. Over the last two years, each section has contributed to the development of this tranquil space, preparing the ground, erecting and painting fences (and a shed), planting, laying a pathway, weeding and watering.

On Thursday 27 th October I set off to London with a fellow scout and two leaders on a once in a lifetime trip! We had been invited to a reception at 11 Downing Street to celebrate the A Million Hands Campaign.
Once we were off the train we headed to a few sights before the main event, going to Downing Street! Our first challenge was getting through the imposing metal gates and security! Apparently we all were on the list, had nothing suspicious in our bags and matched our passport photos, so were let in!
